Sabina has been suffering from anorexia for 16 years. This is the deadliest mental illness. Sabina claims that her issue concerns around the control: obsessive focus on her body and the elimination of food provide her with
a sense of control in life. Her self-value is dependent on how little she has eaten today; deviating from her internal regime, brings about paralyzing guilt and a loss of belief in her own capabilities. Sabina’s thoughts focus around
not eating, and the obsessive control over her body gives her a false sense of strength.
This series is part of a larger audiovisual project. Available only on request.
The work is still in progress: I've been documenting Sabina’s healing process and her efforts to break the taboo surrounding eating disorders in society.
